Is FlightMap.live free?
Yes. The live map, aircraft details, a limited number of flight/airport searches per month, and CSV/KML export are free for everyone. Pro adds more monthly searches, custom alerts, extra map layers, and removes ads.
How live is 'live'?
Aircraft positions come from ADS-B transponder broadcasts relayed through OpenSky Network's receiver network, typically a few seconds to under a minute old by the time they reach the map — not simulated or scheduled data.
Why don't I see every aircraft?
Coverage depends on nearby ADS-B receivers. Some aircraft (older equipment, military, certain private flights) don't broadcast a public position at all, and remote areas with no receiver coverage won't show traffic even if planes are there.
What does Pro actually include?
A higher monthly search limit, custom alerts (email you when a callsign, aircraft, or area you're watching appears), no ads, a larger favorites limit, a sortable aircraft list view, ATC (FIR/UIR) boundary overlays, and a satellite cloud layer. See the Pro page for the full list.
Can I cancel my Pro subscription anytime?
Yes, whenever you like — no long-term commitment. Manage or cancel it through your Stripe billing details.
How do custom alerts work?
Set an alert on a callsign prefix, a specific aircraft, or a geographic area (with an optional altitude range). When a match newly appears in live traffic, you get an email — not on every check, only when something new shows up.
Is FlightMap.live affiliated with Flightradar24 or other trackers?
No. FlightMap.live is built and run independently. Any resemblance in layout to other flight trackers is because that's simply what a useful live map looks like — not affiliation.
Where does the data come from?
Live positions come from OpenSky Network, a crowd-sourced ADS-B receiver network. Flight status and airport departure/arrival boards come from AeroDataBox.
